This was my first time at what appears to be a popular small neighborhood eatery in Elgin. I was pleasantly surprised with the quick and friendly service and good food. There are two food options: buffet or meat and sides (with the option to add on the salad bar/buffet for $5. If you do this, the pricing is the same for an adult buffet meal). You tell them what you'd like, then they'll prepare the food for you. After you seat yourself, you're greeted by a server or two to get your drink order. If you would like more of something from the hot buffet line, or choose to try something different, just let your server know, and they'll get it and bring it to you. Wow! Where do I start… I thought I was hungry so I did the “all you can eat” deal. It is a buffet, but they serve you from the other side of the glass. You just tell them what you want. I had pulled pork barbecue with hash and rice. I also had macaroni and cheese. All of that was excellent. I had a small piece of fried chicken, which was nice and crispy and not soggy at all. Very good. I had some nice crispy fried okra. Flavorful green beans. Beef tips. I got a bowl for the salad bar, but then I never went to the salad bar. I did go back for some peach cobbler, dessert and some Oreo cookie casserole dessert. I believe it was 18.95 for all you can eat, including the drink. But wow! I did not leave there hungry! Southern Mamas in Elgin, SC is truly a hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. The space is quaint and charming, scattered with trinkets that reflect authentic country living and Southern hospitality. The food was absolutely yummy —true Southern, down-home cooking made with care. Every bite tasted like comfort and tradition. On top of that, the customer service was excellent—warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a cozy place with amazing food and heartfelt service, Southern Mamas is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!

I thought this hidden gem was well worth the money. $20 a person for the all you can eat buffet, excellent! The food was definitely worth coming back for too. It's good Southern cooking at a very reasonable price. We will be back. We recommend the Fried Chicken, the Hash and Rice, and the Mashed Potatoes! ;)

My husband and I decided to try this soul food spot for the first time. We went in for lunch and as soon as we walked in the staff was so sweet and helpful with explaining what was on the bar/ menu. I couldn't decide what to get because everything looked so amazing and tasty. And Mrs. Kim the owner let me try both items since I couldn't decide and they were both amazing. There is a wide range of sides and entree's to pick from( every soul food item you could want) but if you can't decide you can always pick the buffet which is under $20. My husband and I had the 1 entrées and 3 sides and we had so much food that we were able to take the same amount of food home for dinner.
