Somisomi

Bottom Line Up Front: Somisomi is a Korean-style dessert and ice cream shop that serves up tasty treats in a fun package. The Background: This store specializes in bungeoppang (a Korean street food that's best described as a waffle-like pastry in the shape of a fish) and ahboong (a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with sweet fillings and topped with soft-serve ice cream). Somisomi also serves a third variation with thr ahboong upside down, meaning the open-mouth fish is the topper on a cup of soft-serve ice cream. My Order: I got two upside down ahboong with soft-serve swirls: 1) banana pudding and horchata and 2) matcha and ube. For the former, I added Biscoff crumbs and Cocoa Pebbles. Yummy ice cream and quick service! They have a lot of flavor options for their taiyaki as well. The ube ice cream was especially delicious.

Its a good spot to go for late night cravings. The Ice cream flavors are very good and are in the perfect spot of sweetness. The Taiyaki is superrrr good and delicious. Love the spot and crew at this location.

We got two of the taiyaki with Nutella filling and ube ice cream – one for each of us We love the fish waffle and the ube ice cream! It was worth driving about an hour for it

Stopped by here for some dessert and was not disappointed! 2 Taikyaki for $5... I'm on it. I got one nutella and one oreo. My wife had some kind of upside down ice cream deal. She also got the strawberry milk. She asked if it was like the Hokkaido strawberry milk I've had (I'm a Japanophile and been to Japan a lot of times). I personally don't compare because a lot of stuff I've had in Japan were regional or regional specialties (Hokkaido Milk being one of them). Nonetheless, I enjoyed the taste as it was. Price was good. Staff were super nice. A lot of standing tables (no seats) No bathroom there, but nearby (if its not closed). In a nice downtown-ish area.
