Extremely disappointed. I ordered 2 meat Mandi plates, and what I received was honestly shocking. The rice portion was small, and the “meat” was just skin and bone with barely any actual meat on it. It felt like I was served leftovers. the total came out to almost $60, which is absolutely ridiculous for the quality and portion size. For that price, I expected generous portions and proper meat.... not scraps. This was a complete waste of money. I will never order from here again. If you're thinking about trying this place, save your money and go somewhere else. Definitely not worth it.
STAY AWAY! This was the worst Yemeni food experience I’ve had. The food was tasteless; we ordered lamb mandi, and the meat was essentially bones. The rice was mediocre at best. We also ordered masoob to go, and I had to ask two different servers for it, even though it was clearly sitting on the counter drying up. Eventually, it turned out to be areeka, not masoob at all. The Ramadan atmosphere was nonexistent, with no decorations or menu items reflecting the holy month. In short, don’t go there!
I been there for Iftar on 03/04/2026. The food is amazing, on the other hand the guy on the front desk I'll give him zero in customer service, rude and not friendly at all, when you call him he gives you the feeling that he doesn't have time for you, hurry up and spill what you want ( that feeling). If you're the owner then good luck, front desk and customer service honestly is not the job for you, be friendly and exercise smile more often and please have a positive attitude.
Calling this place terrible is an understatement. I placed an order for one fish at 12:00 and didn’t get my food till 12:50. I used to go regularly to the other Shibam location that’s close to this one, and they were much better and quicker at their service.
One of the Best Yemeni Spots in Chicago – Hands Down I had an amazing experience at this Yemeni restaurant in Chicago. From the second we walked in, you could tell this place was legit. The smell of the spices, the hospitality, the vibes—it all felt super authentic. We ordered the Haneeth and Fahsa, and both were incredible. The meat was perfectly cooked—fall-off-the-bone tender—and the flavors were deep, rich, and just hit different. The Mandi rice had that perfect smokiness, and the fresh bread with Yemeni tea on the side wrapped it all up like a proper meal should. The staff was friendly and made us feel right at home. You can tell they take pride in what they serve, and it really shows. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere was on point. If you’re in Chicago and
