Good service, fair price, warm environment. I am happy to be here today to enjoy spicy Chinese hotpot. Side dish and dessert are great. I enjoy all of them. Definite a come back place.

We visited this spot for Thursday lunch and were seated immediately. Having been to the Rowland Heights branch, we hesitated to come here since it’s not AYCE. Instead, everything is ordered à la carte, including the broth and sauce bar, which come at an additional cost. However, my father-in-law has high standards for authentic Sichuan hot pot, which is why we decided to come back. Their menu offers a variety of specialty hot pot ingredients that you won’t easily find elsewhere, such as pork blood, pork kidney, goose intestines, etc. We opted for the traditional spicy soup base (which was SPICY even at the mild level) and the bone broth, which was an absolute 10/10. Came on Xmas, very busy. Server kind of forgot about us for the most part, no refills on water, had to flag someone down for every little thing. Orders were sometimes delivered promptly, sometimes completely forgotten. The table next to us ordered fried rice 4 times and got it once and had to contest their bill. Food portions were relatively good for the price. Quality was decent, but that service, mmmm. Asked for to go containers and only got enough for half our leftovers.

The new hotpot place in Irvine. We went on a weekday around 6pm. There was no line. We got a table when we walked in but we saw there were already many people inside the restaurant. The server was very friendly and explain to us how the system work. We ordered our soup and dishes. The soup came out very quick. While waiting for the dishes, we went to the snack bar and sauce bar. We find there was not as many selections as at HDL and no labels on many of the sauces and items at the bar. We were guessing by looking at the color and texture. The soup took a while to boil. The dishes came out before the soup boiled. We tasted the tomato soup and found it to a bit bland compared to HDL. The vegetables are fresh and very delicious. If your into the medicinal hot pot than this is the place. They have the spicy Szechuan peppercorn broth, that broth is spicy 🌶️. The selection of meats and fish are great. You build your own sauce, so put everything in it. You can basically put everything in and still can’t go wrong. They also have a little desert bar for you at the end to freshen up the palate and breath. They even have tooth brush and other hygiene items for you in the restroom. Nice touch.
