Shafer Baillie Mansion Bed & Breakfast

I'm writing this with less than two weeks of 2025 remaining AND therefore less than two weeks of this wonderful bed & breakfast remaining too. We do hope the new owners allow this venue to continue as it was such a beautiful place to conclude four months of travel in Canada and the USA. ||We were looking for something different, both in terms of location and services, and we certainly got both. For the former, you're in the suburbs, but what a great place. It's just a block east to the No.10 bus with frequent services into Seattle with stops along the way for the cafes and shops on 15th Avenue and Pine (we loved the Elliott Bay Book Company). Very low key bed and breakfast but the historic mansion is gorgeous and feels like you stepped into the past. The best were comfy, the bathroom was modernized without clashing from the style of the place. Breakfast is provided as part of the stay. Well worth it. Unfortunately the place is closing in December 2025 so stay here while you can.

A truly beautiful mansion that made me feel like I was living in one of the grand homes from 'The Gilded Age'. We stayed for three nights, and every moment was fantastic. Special thanks to Brenda for the warm morning conversations and the delicious breakfast spread. Brenda, if you’re reading this, we absolutely loved the cinnamon roll and wish you had shared the recipe! This place will stay in our dreams for a long time.

We enjoyed lovely accommodations during our family reunion. The breakfasts were delicious and 24 hour coffee access was appreciated. Our room was very comfortable. The location was perfect…close to restaurants and shops and just two blocks from Volunteer Park.

This is, without a doubt, the very best place to stay in Seattle. It's a gorgeous home, in a fantastic location. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and have many special touches. The breakfast is outstanding. The hospitality, especially by your host, Brenda, is the best in the world.
