Customer Reviews
Since moving from Wisconsin 40 years ago, we always love to try places that have the food we grew up on. Fish is one of them. My favorites are perch and walleye. So we made a quick side trip here for lunch. We weren’t disappointed. The perch I had was one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife’s walleye was the same. Her potato salad side was great too. The fellow serving us at the bar was friendly attentive and quick. All at a very reasonable price. Sawyer Harbor Pub & Grill is now on our must come back to list whenever we make our yearly trip to the area.
Stopped here on our bikes (bicycles) on a Friday afternoon. We stepped to the bar and met Joe (pretty sure that's his name). We got a couple of beers and ordered two perch baskets, one with fries. One with potato salad. We have not been here since the new owners took over last year, not knowing what to expect. Our bartender delivered our perch to our table and what a surprise! Big perch with tasty light breading. Deep fried perfectly. Wifey had the fries (good). I had the potato salad and it is out of this world great. We were stuffing ourselves when the cook stopped over to our table to see how things tasted. We gave her skills rave reviews and learned that the coating on the perch is home-made and a well kept secret. We left satisfied and able to bike another 10 miles or so.
Pizza was awesome!!! Lots of cheese and good toppings with a nice thin cracker crust. All the wings were also excellent with great flavor, juicy and not dry or overcooked. This is a great little tucked away place.
What a disappointment. We were seated right away (we had called ahead to make sure they could accommodate us) but then we waited 90 minutes for our meal. Granted, there were extenuating circumstances: we had a larger group (10) and it was the slow week after Labor Day weekend. But after an hour's wait, we had to go to the bar to ask our server (a friendly guy who seemed to be the only one working) what was up, and got a vague answer about the food being "worked on." No sense of urgency, no apologies, no offer of appetizers while we waited. My pizza, while tasty, was lukewarm by the time it arrived. I'm guessing it's not always like this, but I won't be going back to give it another chance.
Great neighborhood hangout. Food is basically bar food, but very tasty. Seating is limited at times, but have a beer and relax... things move fast.
