Salt & Straw

Awesome ice cream shop! They have some more traditional sweet, but unique ice cream flavors as well as more savory style. They are generous with their samples, which is great since savory ice cream flavors aren’t common so you can be sure you’ll like what you get before you order it. We sampled a couple flavors, then decided on a flight of salted, malted chocolate chip cookie dough, vegan hazelnut cookies & cream, strawberry honey basaltic with black pepper, and maple koginut squash with pomegranate. They also give you 1 waffle cone with the flight, which was really cool! I loved the sweet flavors, while my girlfriend loved the savory flavors. I would highly recommend stopping in and tasting some out of the box ice cream flavors!

I just had a wonderful experience visiting Salt and Straw as an out-of-state visitor unfamiliar with the company. Jake, the incredibly kind, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable server behind the counter, sent my mother and me on an ice cream journey, providing us with samples of the unusual yet delicious flavors available and telling us about each one. I ended up with the strawberry balsamic flavor, and it was just too good to be such a strange combo! The visit was truly a fantastic interaction and a welcome surprise bright spot during my trip, especially because we were in town for the passing of a loved one.

It's hard to say anything about Salt & Straw that hasn't already been said by others, but coming from someone who does not generally like OR eat ice cream, gelato, or anything even remotely similar (I know, I know...what kind of monster am I?), I will absolutely tear into a (small) serving of some of their savory selections, like Arbequina Olive Oil, or even the Cinnamon Snickerdoodle, if I am feeling frisky. I really wish they had a tomato ice cream! This location, which officially opens (checks watch) today, is staffed by a fantastic crew of engaging, friendly, and wonderful people who practically fawned over us...well, over my wife, our two baby sons, and our puppy whom we smuggled in in the base of our stroller, that is...and made us feel very, very welcome. I like that their menu items are kind of limited. It makes it easier to decide. I hope that they #o rotate their offerings. We tried couple ice creams with toppings. Both were very good. We also tried the edible fragrance spray too which was definitely a new experience to us.

Finally had the chance to try Salt & Straw and it did not disappoint! Every flavor I tried was amazing, and I already can’t wait to go back. Maddie went above and beyond to make the experience so enjoyable, offering great explanations of each flavor. The entire staff was incredibly friendly. If you get a chance to stop by, do it — you won’t regret it!
