River Oak Chophouse

A large group of myself and my girlfriends ate here over the weekend and all enjoyed delicious meals! Our server was great as were our drinks and food. Almost all of us got steaks and they were tender! Several also enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and the salads were amazing! A couple people said their steaks were overcooked and needed more flavor so we added some of their house made sauces. Would definitely go back!

The River Oak Chophouse is a superb dining experience. From the greeters, and kitchen staff, to the Bartenders and waitresses. Entire staff does a fantastic job. Just a couple of appetizers, Flavors were exceptional. Also had a jumbo shrimp that was ideal. With the Beers and mixed drink selection from the bar you will find that one drink that you will use to compare others to in the future. Call for reservations, or chance a couple of chairs at the bar. Make it a point to stop and enjoy.

It was me and the wife's anniversary so we decided to treat ourself. We went here without a reservation, but they made a spot for us outside. The table was small and flimsy but it worked. So the food was really good, our waitress Emily was very prompt and attentive. The truffle butter was amazing, as was the horseradish sauce. The flat stone plate was really neat, but the juices run off it easily and got all over my pants lol. The price is pretty high, for my wife, my daughter and my self the bill was around 250$, it was 300 after the tip. IMO, it's definitely worth the experience, the food is very good, the service is excellent but the prices seem a bit steep. But we would go back again if we are ever in Madison.

Margarita and crab cake was good. Prime Steak was ordered medium and came out rare. Not impressed with the 70$ steak or the way it was cooked. When self proclaimed upscale restaurant with a specialty in steaks its important to know how to cook a steak. The room where we were seated was cold. My wife had to wear her coat while eating and so did the people at the table next to us.

We have been wanting to go here for some time, and finally got the chance - we loved their other restaurant in North Vernon, and we were really sad when it closed. The new restaurant is also excellent, we enjoyed everything, from appetizers to the specials to the dessert. Service was top notch, very attentive and very helpful with all questions and requests. And I don't think a glass was ever more than half empty! Prices are high, which sets the expectations on the food quality to match, but I feel they easily delivered. Can't wait to go back again!
