We had an amazing experience. If you're craving poke or are looking for a good place to try it for the first time, definitely come here. Not only is the staff incredibly helpful and extremely friendly, they make you feel super comfortable, they also will give you a sample of their options to help you make your choice (although I don't think there's a wrong answer. Everything is delicious.)

Hands down the best poke we had on the Big Island was at Pono Hawaiian Everything was unbelievably fresh — you can truly taste the difference. This was our first time trying poke, and the owner was there along with his amazing staff, which made the whole experience even better. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely excited to help us. They encouraged us to try different varieties and walked us through their favorites, but also let us sample several options so we could figure out what we loved. That kind of hospitality made such a difference, especially as first-timers. And the poke itself? Beyond delicious. Perfectly seasoned, incredibly fresh, and just bursting with flavor. Best poke I've had! I got the kimchi shrimp and the garlic aioli poke, with takuan (pickled Japanese radish) and okinawan sweet potato. The flavors and textures were all excellent, with perfectly seasoned rice. The prices are shockingly decent, too! Definitely give them a shot if you have even a passing fancy for poke

Pono Hawaiian Style Deli is absolutely outstanding! The staff is incredibly friendly and full of aloha, and each bowl is made with real precision and love. I ordered the Wasabi Aioli and the California - both super fresh and absolutely delicious. They even treated me to an ube cookie. Totally worth the drive, and I’ll definitely be back.
