Peniku Japanese Hibachi Grill

We were looking for a place to meet for our annual Christmas family get together and wanted to keep it in the same town while trying something new. Penuku Japanese Hibachi Grill showed up as an option with mostly strong reviews, even though many of them were older. That made it a gamble, but we decided to give it a try. When I first pulled up, I honestly questioned if we were at the right place. The outside does not look inviting and feels easy to pass by. Once inside, that impression changed quickly. The restaurant was clean, well-kept for an older building, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was the real highlight. Loved this place! We were driving through and noticed this place——a Japanese sushi restaurant in literally nowhere, had super high reviews! Here’s why: Our food was fresh! The waitress, an older lady, was kind and helpful. She even remembered extra napkins without asking for them. There was a cute little sushi counter with a sushi chef. The restaurant was clean inside even if it was a tiny bit shabby—you can tell they work hard to make it nice. The menu is very comprehensive for a sushi place! Best of all——the food was delicious! I chose 2 appetizers, vegetable tempura and soft shell crab tempura. It was a the nice smooth textured, puffy, tempura batter fried to a golden brown. The sushi here is AMAZING! Every roll my boyfriend and I got was super fresh and absolutely delicious. The Volcano and Deep Ocean rolls are a high recommendation from me. The Louisiana roll hit the spot for my crawfish craving as well. 100/10 ⭐

Overall, this was a good experience. The food was ok, we had steak Hibachi, with fried rice and vegetables. I have had better, but I have also had worse. The waitress was attentive, and the prices were reasonable. Plus side is the crab Rangoons. This is a must. If I am ever back in the area, I would be willing to eat there again.
