Nutley Public Library

I've only been here once and my experience was fantastic. This place is large and has lots of resources. The children were doing some video game entertainment on a gigantic, gigantic, gigantic screen. I observed setups with lego displays. The computer room was nice, with fast internet & ergonomic chairs. They have a record collection. Clean bathroom. Wheelchair accessible. Easy elevator to use. Friendly, helpful service. During the summer while Rutherford, E. Rutherford, Wallington, Lyndhurst, N. Arlington amongst other libraries are closed during the summer, Nutley is open till 5pm. That's why I traveled here and I was glad I did. One side of the building (Booth Drive) has permit parking only so pay attention to the signs.

The library itself is great — there are plenty of toys and a good amount of space for kids to play and read. We try to come at least once a month. We used to visit more often, but unfortunately, the staff’s attitude has really made the experience less enjoyable. They often come across as rude or irritated, which makes the kids feel like they’re a burden just for being there. They also only allow one coloring sheet per child — not a huge deal, but it does feel unnecessarily stingy. There’s also no designated space for snacks, and even something as simple as Goldfish crackers will get you asked to leave, which feels a bit over the top for a children’s space. They definitely need to do better on that part but as you can see by the other reviews, doesn’t seem like they care.

Outstanding, attentive, courteous service in a state of the art library. Nutley should be eternally grateful.

The Nutley Library have so many activities for my three, soon to be four year old. Story time, STEM activity days, summer reading competitions to have the kids excited to read and plenty more. The librarians are very helpfully and very informative. Very glad we picked a town that has such a good library for our little one.
