Nirvana Indian Cuisine

When I first learned of this place opening, I decided to take my wife to try Indian food for the first time… Nirvana offered a double entrée special back when they were starting here, And what a great way to give people a chance to experience what Indian food is like! We both ordered that special many times and got to try most of the menu! What I thought would be my main go to dish, we soon replaced by the lamb vindaloo, which I had never tried before myself! I love it! The staff are always friendly and very accommodating.

We came here for a nice birthday lunch and left very happy. We ordered samosas to start which were very good and perfectly cooked. They come with two sauces, a chutney and a green spicy sauce. I prefer the green sauce but both were very good. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and the lamb briyani. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also ordered one roti and one naan for the table as no bread comes with the meal which is a bit disappointing. The average cost of entree is $15-18 so a little cheaper the some of the other local places but still a bit high in my opinion. The serving size is a good portion, we definitely had left overs! The interior is very nice and clean, and the service is friendly and quick to help.

Our favorite order is butter chicken (we ask for a little spice!), garlic naan, and papri chaat! It’s the best!

We eat Indian frequently and had high hopes for Nirvana before going to Olney Theater. My tandoori lamb kabob was flavorful but tough as an old shoe. Other diners in our party liked their goat curry and fish curry. Garlic naan was excellent as was the service.

My wife and I love this place! Best Indian restaurant in the area by far. Would highly recommend to anyone regardless whether you are familiar with Indian cuisine or not. Definitely not hard to find something good on the menu!
