Means was an awesome little spot to have lunch. Took advantage of the Friday lunch specials which were both delicious. Started with some salads and moved right into the better stuff. Red beans and sausage over rice with fried chicken. 10/10 meal. The dark meat chicken was so juicy and melt in your mouth. Shrimp creole over rice. This was really good but the red beans and rice stole the show.
A wonderful dining experience, even though we walked in minutes before closing. (I know, I know. It wasn’t cool of us to do that, but we didn’t realize this until after we’d ordered.) We were hungry and stopped by Mena’s after looking at their menu posted outside their doors. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the muffuletta and the rice and beans with sausage, the special of the day. My boyfriend doesn’t like olives, a component of the muffuletta, but even he loved my sandwich. The bread was warm but crusty and the Swiss cheese was melted over the meat with a bed of bright olives. My boyfriend’s rice and beans were hearty and warm. The large sausage made it a filling meal. Thank you to the wonderful people working there who let us in and take a seat, despite the late tim
We stopped in on a warm day walking to our hotel. There was a crowd but some open tables inside and out. Decided to split a sandwich and decided on a muffuletta. Over server was friendly, helpful and efficient. Nothing but top marks for her. But when she brought the sandwich, it was a lot of things but IT WAS NOT a muffuletta. A few cold cuts on a hoagie bun. A thin layer of olive salad. No mortadella.and the roll was sliced into 2 inch slices. There were leftovers and we didn't bother to take them. Maybe the rest of the menu is great but the "muffuletta" was an unfunny joke.
Absolutely loved brunch at Mena’s! The vibe is super chill and welcoming, perfect for a laid back weekend catch-up. The food is so good. I had the Cajun Pork Omelette and it was easily one of the best I’ve had crispy, juicy, and the cheese situation was next level. My friend got the shrimp and grits and didn’t stop raving about it. Also, shoutout to the staff everyone was super friendly and on point without hovering. Coffee was strong, mimosas were flowing, and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Definitely coming back. Solid five stars.
Jade & Myra are fantastic! She knows the menu and is very kind. Great food. Kind of a "best kept secret" kind of place. Large portions. Incredible fried chicken. Best breasts in The Quarter! House dressing is made in-house and served in a shaker at your table. Cajun home fries and the tasso hot sausage are really great!
