Mayfield Dairy

We were here several years ago, took the tour, ate some ice cream and had a blast! This trip we arrived around 2:30 which was a little late to take the tour since they were in the process of starting the shut down of the production lines. We enjoyed the ice cream and gift shop. Another local attraction we recommend!!

Took the Mayfield tour (about 45 minutes) — fun and informative! We saw the factory where they make and fill milk jugs, plus the ice cream line. All indoors, so great rain or shine. No photos allowed inside, but you do have e to wear hair nets. Ended with a cute gift shop and yummy ice cream.

Great tour. Please make time to visit this location for a very educational tour that ends with everyone's favorite icecream at the end. I enjoyed every minute including the gift shop. Mayfield Icecream is my grandmother's favorite.

We recently visited the Mayfield Dairy Visitor Center in Athens, TN, and were impressed by the experience, even though we couldn’t participate in the guided tour, which is offered only during the weekdays. The Visitor Center is charming, with a wide variety of Mayfield-themed merchandise, from hats to t-shirts and even adorable tote bags. The nostalgic displays and informative signage about the dairy’s history and ice cream production process give great insights into the scale of their operations. The highlight of our visit was definitely the ice cream! We ordered the “Pirate’s Treasure” flavor from the ice cream bar, and it was hands down the creamiest ice cream we’ve ever had. Little bit boring for me. But I was glad the 11 y.o. enjoyed it. It's more like a place where a school bus would take children on a field trip. I think it is perfect for the school to do for the children. The ice cream at the end was the best part for me besides knowing Jr. Got to check it out.
