Maplecroft Bed and Breakfast

My partner and I stayed in the Mary Mackie room for one night for a get-out-of-town weekend and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Caryn was more than accommodating, immediately letting us know that the mini split heater in our room wouldn't work due to the weather being below zero, but offered us a tower space heater to make up for it (which we didn't end up needing, the room was SO cozy with the two radiators working!) She made us feel so welcome in her home. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and she lovingly made me gluten free pancakes and everyone else regular pancakes. We had originally planned to stay in Montpelier and when lodging options were limited, found the Maplecroft in nearby Barre — so happy we did! My adult son and I stayed in the Elia Corti Room which was nice for a bit of extra space. (Be sure to make time to wander the Hope Cemetery in Barre where Corti is buried with one of many markers that help tell the story of Barre’s history). The main bedroom was charming and the pullout sofa sleeper in the attached den was more than adequate. A window fan cooled the den for sleeping at night on a hot day, and the ceiling fan in the main bedroom was very comfortable even without turning on the window AC unit. The bathroom was small with toilet and shower but clean with very nice bath products. Both the den and attached bedroom each had their own sink

Positive: Owner was very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. Room cozy and comfortable. Negative: Our particular room did not have its own individual bathroom so we had to go down the hall to use one. A minor inconvenience, but it did not detract from our stay.

Stayed in the tower room, it was small and cozy; exactly what we needed. Bed was comfortable, the entire house was very clean. The owner is very nice and served an absolutely delicious breakfast. I would absolutely return.
