Mac's Burgers & Cheesesteaks

If you've ever seen How I Met Your Mother, this is THE burger. I dream about this burger. I don't live in North Carolina anymore, but I'm considering planning a trip for this burger. I haven't eaten this burger in nearly a decade, and I have yet to find a burger that compares.

This was my first visit here so consider that please. I found the folks there not very friendly in a kind of hipster doufus way. Before you bash me, I’m from Portland Oregon and am familiar. Gotta say, the fries were absolute fire! Fresh, crispy, hand cut goodness! However, the Philliy I had was straight up inedible. The meat was greasy, tough, and had an odd flavor. There was hardly any peppers or onions on the Philly. One bite and in the bin.

Food was good. Simple menu: burgers, dogs, fries or chips. Fries were delicious. A bit overpriced ($26 for 2 drinks, 2 single meat burgers and 1 basket of fries). Menu at counter is a bit confusing with prices, so make sure to ask what's what when ordering. Very small dining area inside and some booths outside. Parking is limited. Many folks were parked at the bank across the street. Super friendly staff (3 that we encountered). Would eat again if it's in the budget. Drink fountain has RC products, including Cheerwine, also sweet tea is available.

Great place for a burger! My wife had seen this place while on a visit with a client and wanted to give it a try. It doesn't look like much, inside or out but they have really good burgers and the chips are home made. It is definitely one of the better burgers that I have had in a while. Probably the best burger in Black Mountain.

I go there often and the food is always great. The Philly Cheese steak is almost Philly, the burgers are great, and the Chicken Salad is big chunky chicken. Just a great little place to have a late lunch.
