Lanikai Brewing Company

This place was great — and we believe the best restaurant in Volcano (we ate at a few other places with less than stellar results). We went for lunch one day, and we liked it so much, we went back for dinner the next night. On both our visits, we enjoyed a margarita pizza with mushrooms — and it was really good the first time, and appreciably better the next time we went. We also had a beet salad which was quite ample and so full of fun stuff; we especially liked the addition of the fried shallots and garlic. Lanikai Brewing Company was our rainy day stop in Hilo, and while the weather wasn’t exactly cooperating, the food and drinks made it worthwhile. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and there isn’t much of a designated waiting area so you’re essentially hanging out on the front porch. On a dry, sunny day that might be part of the charm, but in the rain and chill it’s not the most comfortable setup. They do have outdoor seating, though again, it’s definitely better suited for clear skies. Once we were seated inside, the experience completely turned around. We ordered the pizza Da Roni and added mushrooms and olives and a Caesar Salad. Both were really awesome. What a treat! My wife ordered a Pilsner and really enjoyed it.

Ended up eating here a couple times while in the area for the national park. Loved they were open late (for the region). The ramen was great. The pizza was great. The drinks are solid. There's nothing I can find to complain about from either of the visits I made here.

We stopped here to eat lunch prior to visiting the National Park. Wow, was that ever the right decision! We had pizza, beet salad, and fish sandwich. One of the best meals and the staff were so friendly. Fresh ingredients and a comfortable environment. A must stop when you are in the area!
