La Gastronomia di Porchetta

Absolutely incredible food and service. This is true Italian cuisine of the highest order- it’s hard to find this level of authenticity outside of Italy. The porchetta and faro were perfectly cooked, as was the spaghetti and gnocchi. I am sure this place is going to have a Michelin star someday - we feel so lucky to have discovered it serendipitously while trying to grab a quick and affordable bite around Fairfax. Also, the owner and servers were such wonderful hosts. Fairfax is lucky to have a gem like this. We can’t wait to come back soon!!

Some of the best Italian food I've had outside of Italy. Very authentic dishes and flavors. We dined with a party of 5 so got to try many dishes and even those that were a tad lacking were still excellent. The fresh baked focaccia is marvelous. The creamy polenta with mushrooms was excellent! The original Italian varietal wine selection was refreshingly different than most restaurants and the quality was spot on. Our friends love the roasted Cauliflower, and fought over the remainder that they shared. The pappardelle looked, smelled and tasted hearty and authentic. What a great little place, and worthy of a two hour drive, and...I'll tell you why! Jazzmo Pete and I had spent the whole day out at Bill Halsey's Hangin Balls Ranch separating the Bulls from the Cows and Heffers into their winter pastures, and we were beat, cold and wet from the coastal fog. Jazzmo, an Italian at heart says let's go into town and have a big bowl of pasta and a couple bottles of Chianti, well that was enough for me, so off we went. ...Smelling like old west cowboys I was sure we'd get kicked out of any place we went into, but Jazzmo had a quart bottle of some sort of hipster stuff that'll take the smell off a litter box! And it worked! We went to La Gastronomia di Porchetta Restaurant and had about the best Italian food in the Bay Area! 5 stars and they didn't even try

Unbelievable Italian restaurant in the heart of Fairfax!!!! 100% authentic Italian cuisine The food is crazy delicious, we ordered an Paccheri alla Pancino and Agnello to share with my husband and it was an amazing experience to taste these plates! You can see every detail of work. Also they recommended for wine Giovanni Ross Etna Ross which also was a great suggestion by our server and also owner and chef of the place Elena that very surprised us and the wine was just great! The place looks very clean and cozy! Really a perfect side to served a good amount of people and for everyone to have a good experience and savor this food! We will definitely go back!

It has always been a mystery how nearly any small trattoria in Italy can serve magical food but even the priciest Italian restaurants in the US offer up insipid imitations. I am happy to report that you no longer need to fly to Italy for a proper meal. La Gastronomia is the equal of anything you will find in the old country, magnifico. Also, as in Italy, wines are priced reasonably.
