This is the purpose of the Google map system. If I didn't know this was here, I would have settled for gas station food. Rustic Colorado, tucked away in an almost unnoticeable town called La Garita, CO. An old gold mining boom town. The old La Garita trading post has passed through many hands over the years. I haven't seen it for probably 40 years and on the outside, it looks the same as it always has with some minor changes. It is the only business in the unincorporated community. That being said, it is awesome. The family that runs the Trading post are wonderful. The burgers are hands down the best. On bread made on site. What a great place! I think the photos say everything. The view out of my table side window is amazing!
Absolute gem with tasty homemade food and locally-sourced sweets. I came across this on a bicycle tour and it was an oasis in the middle of… I had a GREAT burger and freshly cut wedge fries. The staff was very friendly, and the bathrooms were clean — highly recommend!
We have been here before 8 years ago, when we also cycled the Divide. We do not recognize the inside anymore. The business apparently has new owners, a young couple, who have taken the business to a higher level. Beautiful, spacious interior, an extensive menu, excellent coffee, delicious food and not to forget friendly service. Dear cyclists of the Great Divide: stop here, it is an oasis!
WOW!!!! What an amazing place!!! We enjoyed our personal anniversary dinner so very much. How considerate of you to go above and beyond. We really appreciate all that you did. The food was DEFINITELY worth the trip. Homemade buns for the burgers, fresh tomatoes out of the garden, and looking forward to trying the fresh made cookies. Best hamburgers in the valley!! We love everything that is on the menu. All the folks who work here are very helpful and great folks. Very clean restaurant. Restrooms are clean. They also sell honey, eggs, bread, donuts, tallow lotions and a lot of other items. They are open for breakfast and lunch. Enjoy
