I stumbled upon this establishment when I was searching for a Latin restaurant in Grubhub. Last night we decided against delivery and opted to drive out and dine in. This place has a parking lot next door but it seems that this lot belongs to an auto repair shop not the restaurant, it has tow-away signs but we parked in the lot because it was after hours. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables, the music is low, the decor is low-key with some Winter motiffs. I told my wife that I was expecting more of an Island/Caribbean decoration. My wife ordered the Asopaó de Camarones (Shrimp Soupy Rice) & got Spaghetti with Dominican Salami, Tostones & Avocado. Hot tea to drink. I expected the Spaghetti to come with Dominican Salami as an option (this is how Dominican Spaghetti is prepare
My empanadas were burnt and on top of that, there was hair in my food as well. I went back and just asked for a refund, didn’t make a big deal about it but I was upset because my toddler would’ve been the one to eat those. Once I asked for the refund the gentleman was very apologetic but then idk if the lady who came out was the owner or not but she was very hostile and extremely rude. She tried to call me a liar even after I showed her proof of the hair.
I’ve been wanting to try Mangu for the longest and today I finally had a chance to stop here early enough to have for brunch. The young lady that took my order was very kind and served me with a smile. Before I put in my order I asked if they had WiFi because I have some homework that I really need to work on. She told me yes but the boss has to give me the pw because she doesn’t know it. I ordered and waited for the boss to give me the pw. Boss was walking in and out and nothing. I ate the mangu I did like it I’m not going to lie how ever a good review come from enjoying the food the service and the environment. When I approached the boss his answer was “ we do have WiFi but I’m not allowed to share it with the customers” he said arrogantly too, I never saw smiled at any of the customer
Great location. In an area where demand for spanish food could be good. However they dont capitalize on the opportunity. To start, the young girl that works there seems miserable to be there. Let's hope she isn't being forced to work there. She is rude and doesn't greet anyone. And even after you walk in to an empty restaurant she doesn't smile and carries on in a cold manner. Foodwise, I tried a simple chicken soup and chicharon. Probably the worst soup I ever had from a Dominican spot. Very greasy and taste was off. Chicharon. You cant really make a mistake with chicharon. Though this place chicharon was off as well. This place is cozy and has alot of potential. Its up to the kitchen and staff to capitalize on the opportunity. Two stars is generous. That young girl needs to smile before
The food was delicious. Rarely do we find a place that makes Dominican food the right way. Compliments to the chef (La doña in the back, probably una abuela ya) the Mofongo was on point, not too dry mot drowning in garlic or sauce. Didnt feel like somone was trying to cover up bad coocking with salt. The whole family loved their dishes. The Juice could use some work but I would still recommend this place and will definitely be coming back here. I suggest you give it try if you are ever in the mood for some good Dominican Food 🇩🇴 La comida estaba muy buena. Le recomiendo esta local a cualquiera persona que esté buscando comida Dominicana. Siento que no todos los que dicen que tienen comida Dominicana lo save cocinar bien. Pero aquí to salo delicioso. Te lo recomiendo
