Although we live nearby, my wife and I didn't try La Baja when in opened as the menu did not offer a variety of things we would like. That has changed. There are now several seafood and pasta selections. We shared an order of Huitlacoche Ravioli which were amazing. Perfectly done pasta with a mushroom like filling, and a lovely light butter sauce. The scallops with cavatelli and asparagus were also wonderful. My wife enjoyed her chicken dish. The carrot side dish was somewhat overcooked, but very tasty. Pear poached with hibiscus, and served with homemade mango ice cream was excellent. Our server was friendly, helpful, and just delightful. We're sorry we waited so long to try this local gem, and we plan to be back soon!
Looks like a quaint little local restaurant but don't let the looks fool you. The food was top restaurant quality! We ordered the duck, the ribeye and the red snapper special with the shishito peppers and cauliflower as side dishes. Everything dish was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor! Can't wait to return to try some of the other dishes!!!
Helena is an attentive, engaging, and knowledgeable server! Service is always fantastic. She recommended delicious dishes from the new menu like the burratina, carne apache, tetela, shishito, elote, and huitlacoche ravioli. Huitlacoche, a delicacy harvested from corn, and the carne apache dishes were my favorites of the night. Highly recommend any of the desserts, especially the meringue and tiramisu. Passion fruit juice was delicious as well. This is my favorite go-to spot! Everything had such a depth of flavor, I forgot to take pictures. The pictures I took don’t do the food justice at all!!
Had a great dinner during Ambler restaurant week. The $45 was more reasonable than some of the other local restaurants and the food/service was great. We had the avocado and crab appetizer from the regular menu because I love it! Two people chose the croquetas...guess they were good because I didn't even get to try it. I had a corn soup that was delicious. The sauce with the pork cheek main was so well spiced and flavorful. For dessert I had the passion fruit cannoli. I was skeptical since cannoli is often disappointing. These had the perfect amount of crunch and the filling was perfect!!
Absolutely incredible dining experience in Ambler. The service was perfect- Marcela was so knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu! The food was Michelin quality… flavor combinations out of this world! Ambler is so lucky to have La Baja.
