Local fresh fish! When we arrived, they were a bit busy accepting a fresh catch out of an iced cooler. They weighed them and they went straight to the cooler...not to be confused with a freezer (didn't look like they had one). John, the owner, has serveral fresh poke offerings and literally the catch of the day. We bought a book match pair of perfectly trimmed striped marlin (bill fish like swordfish) Light marinade in the teriyaki seasoning they sell. Asian slaw and asparagus sides. Absolutely wonderful! ETA: They also have a booth at the Waimea Farmer's market.
Saw this on Tictok and they aren't even on Tictok!!! OMG OMG AND OMG. Wow amazing. I ordered the spicy ahi wow WOW. so fresh, literally melted in my mouth!!! Absolutely no grisly. My husband wanted nothing spicy, no problem. He made brand new fresh fresh! Chop chop, asked what sauces he likes made it up. WOW!! small shop!! Look for the blue door.
We purchased a whole fish from here for myself to cook with As a Chef, I'm always looking for new fish I haven't worked with before) The service was great, she took her time to show us all the different fish they had on offer, the flavours of each of them and how best to cook them! We enjoyed our fish laster that night, what a great place for amazingly fresh seafood!
Kona Seafood Market is the real deal. We picked up about eight pounds of shrimp and every bit of it was excellent—fresh, clean, and exactly what you hope for when you buy seafood in a place like Kona. You can tell right away the quality is there. What really stood out though was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, the kind of local spot where you feel welcome the moment you walk in. They answered questions, helped us get exactly what we needed, and clearly take pride in what they sell. Great product, great people. If you want quality seafood in Kona, this place delivers. We’ll definitely be back.
We came for Poke based on reviews and it was okay. A large order was enough to feed two, and you can tell the fish is fresh. The traditional was good and spicy was what my husband preferred. We wished there were more side options than just kimche and would have liked more traditional white rice over the brown rice. We also got an order of fish ceveche, and it was more vegetables than fish. We likely would come here to buy full fish fillets if we lived on the island.
