Kissui Sushi

Kissui Sushi is a casual, neighborhood sushi place. We always get a warm reception when we walk in. It’s been around for many years. Nowadays it seems a bit quiet and slightly dated but we always enjoy getting a quick, reasonably priced dinner here. The rolls are fresh and I like their salad dressing, it has a great sesame flavor, I prefer it over the orangey ones that other Japanese restaurants serve. The miso soup is full of tofu and seaweed, they certainly don’t skimp on the goodies in the soup. The tempura is lightly fried and yummy.

I work delivering food through an app. Whenever I arrive at the restaurants, the food is ready. But this restaurant always takes forever to prepare orders. Today they asked me to wait an absurd 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the customer waiting for the food thinks the delay is the driver's fault. Customers should avoid ordering delivery from this restaurant.

Not your average sushi place. The fish is very fresh and you can tell just from looking at it. Even better when you take a bite. Great value. Loved the sushi lunch special - the miso soup is also excellent. As an NYC native, I’d say Kissui goes toe to toe with many great places I’ve eaten at. GF and I are both foodies and she is an absolute sushi fiend with very discerning standards. The fact that she was impressed tells me they are doing something right.

This is a wonderful family run restaurant with really amazing quality sushi. Since it is a family run operation, the high demand may require a bit of patience at times, but the wait is worth it!
