Kingsley Inn

Not only was the stay itself, along with the staff, great, but they went above and beyond to help me with a problem! I stayed here while attending a wedding, and hadn’t realized I’d left my wedding outfit(s) behind in the room until I was almost home. I called and left a message asking if they’d found them, and was contacted the next day. They took down my information and had the clothes in the mail by the day after that, and they arrived to me within 2 days of being sent out! A few of the items I’d left behind by mistake have a lot of sentimental value to me, so I am beyond appreciative to have them back thanks to the wonderful staff at this establishment! Truly kind people, and a wonderful place to stay.

I came here on the Amtrak Southwest Chief and spent the weekend in Fort Madison mainly to watch the trains but to also enjoy the Mississippi River. It is an older building but nicely restored and the rooms are modern and classic at the same time. Since the hotel is geared towards railfans (there's a railcam overlooking the BNSF lines) the internet was more than adequate plus the free breakfast a big plus. A few restaurants are within walking distance along with the riverfront and the Santa Fe depot

Historic hotel. Nice rooms. Easy check in . If they give you the key codes for the front door and your room. There's a nice common kitchen where you can make your coffee ,tea ,and heat up food. There's a large refrigerator that you can put your stuff in.

The facility was lovely!! Definitely a place to return with very unique character, though limited amenities. The bar that we expected open was not and the offer of refreshments was actually empty. The coffee service was very minimal to the description provided. The only real concern is that they have switched to an AirBNB operation vs a full service inn. I missed not having front desk service. We received a clear confirmation and instructions but the wrong room was listed so we were unable to enter the room listed. We called the number and they responded shortly after. However it was a stressful few minutes.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. We really enjoyed the hotel! The history is charming. We had a beautiful fall view of the Mississippi. The staff were all super friendly and there was a lot to do within walking distance. I booked a room facing the river and underestimated how many trains would come through the station. If you are a little noise sensitive I’d suggest a courtyard room. It might be a little quieter. (If the giant fans from the building next door aren’t running) But we weren’t as bothered by the trains as we initially thought we would. We loved Fort Madison and will definitely be coming back again.
