We walked from our hotel and had a nice dinner. The chicken cury was a delight, and the Gaelic Burger was outstanding. The muscles and fries were cooked to perfection. We sat outside, it was a nice day and all around a great experience. I would recommend this to anyone in the area, and the service was top notch. If you found this review helpful, please drop a 👍
Really lovely restaurant and the hero of the evening. A previous plan fell apart so we had to pivot. My suspicion now is this might be a better choice in any case. I got a James Joyce burger with a fried egg added. I also had fries which were good but powerfully seasoned with salt and garlic. Vampires beware. Also the egg was runny so if that is not your thing say so upfront.i liked it fine and it struck me as the conventional burger egg. So if you have done it before it will be very over easy and make it tricky to hold. Especially when the yolk eventually bursts. Our server was prompt and very helpful. He also appeared to split his attention between hosting, serving, and bar tending. He might have also done a little of the cooking himself. Either way he balanced many hats and a lot of peo
Lovely service - our bartender/waitress was so sweet and fast! Guinness and Smithwicks on point as it should be. Decor was authentic. Reminded me a of side street pub in Kilkenny. Food was a bit salty (but that’s a personal dislike of mine - may be spot on to others). Love that there was malt vinegar already on the table. Would return!
I am a long time customer of James Joyce and am sad to give a bad review but I’ve had enough of the abysmal service and rude bartenders. It seems like every time I go there’s a new bartender and each one is as rude as the next. Tonight we sat at a table, and the bartender came over to wipe it for us, acknowledged us and we said thank you. Then we sat there for 15 plus minutes as he passed by us literally five times waiting on other tables and ignoring us. Finally I approached him at the bar and asked if we needed to order at the bar. He said yes, and I said okay, I wish you could’ve told us that. His response was “well I didn’t talk to you.” Yeah that’s the problem! It would take one second to ask us to order at the bar while he was wiping our table or one of the many times he passed by us
Had a great round of drinks and dinner here on a Thursday night. Able to walk in around 6 pm and seated right away. The Shepard pie, Irish stew, and fish and chips were all excellent! Highly recommend if you are staying in the area.
