Istanbul Grill

We had the weekend special soup as an appetizer, Turkish pizza and loaded fries as the mains. Everything was absolutely delicious. Everything from the lahmacun to the Shepard salad was fresh. The service was 5/5, staff were friendly. They were packed and for good reason. We even brought home dessert, rice pudding, it was superb. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to try some authentic Turkish cuisine.

Istanbul Grill is truly a hidden gem in Newark. This family-owned Turkish restaurant serves incredibly generous portions, but what really stands out is the love and care that goes into every dish. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with pride. Beyond the food, the staff are exceptionally kind, welcoming, and attentive, making you feel more like a guest in their home than a customer. A must-visit spot for anyone looking for great food and genuine hospitality.

Our go too whenever we have company coming over. Their chicken Shawerma meal is my personal favorite the sauce and chicken have a rich flavor and amazing taste. Usually we order to go the restaurant can get super busy, and they share an entrance with a smoke shop. Their meals are big and easily feed more than one person. The staff are nice and friendly we’ve eaten here a few times and everyone is just willing to help you, and make you feel comfortable.

Delicious, fresh food, a friendly welcoming staff. We loved our mixed grill - see photo. The babaganoush was tasty. Enormous portions. My husband and I split a mixed grill and 2 appetizers and we took home leftovers. It’s a diner atmosphere, reasonable prices. Highly recommend for casual, relaxed meal. Loved that so many customers were Turkish.

Such a nice local gem! The kebabs were super tasty and full of flavor. Everyone was really friendly and polite, which made the experience even better. Will definitely come back again.
