Nothing makes me crazier than a “local” seafood spot serving fish from halfway around the world. Long Island is full of amazing seafood, and we should be eating it right here. Haskell’s Seafood Market and Cafe in Westhampton Beach gets it. No imported salmon or Chilean sea bass here. Every bite is local, black sea bass, porgy, ling, fresh caught bluefin and fluke, even kelp grown on Long Island. I generally don't make posts like this, but lunch today was incredible, and it felt great to support local fisheries. If you love fresh, local seafood, you need to check them out.
It’s off season in the Hamptons, so several of the go to spots are closed for the season. After conducting a bit of research , I settled on this place having never been. I know what a good lobster roll should look and taste like. This place did not disappoint. A very good vibe as soon as you enter. Good attentive staff, reasonable prices, And most importantly, great food. I had the lobster roll and New England clam chowder and it was excellent. I highly recommend, and will be back.
Haskell is such a wonderful respite from other stuffy and expensive dinners on main street in westhampton. Walk into the seafood shop to choose your filet of fish and have it cooked however you’d like, or choose from their perfectly sized menu. Everything is unbelievably fresh, all the fish is caught locally that morning. Menu standouts are the Red shrimp (both cocktail style and fried), the lobster roll, and the tuna entre. The night of our most recent visit, we had three kinds of fresh tuna to choose from— yellowfin, big eye, and bluefin! The street seating is great but the back patio is really lovely. Bonus, the restaurant is BYOB so you can bring whatever you’d like without paying restaurant markups for wine and beer.
Owner was very friendly and inviting. Waitress Emily even more so. My family really enjoyed the food as well, lobsters rolls and chowder were great! A gem in town. Keep being amazing! ( Can't wait to try the sushi )
I recently dined at a charming seafood restaurant in Westhampton Beach, Long Island, and it was a delightful experience. The fish sandwich was a standout—crispy and perfectly seasoned, with fresh fish that truly highlighted the quality of their seafood. The restaurant's location is incredibly convenient, just a short walk from the beach, making it a perfect spot for a post-sunmeal. Additionally, the extra seating in the back provides a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for enjoying a meal with friends or family. Overall, it’s a great find for anyone craving excellent seafood in a laid-back setting.
