Halsted Street Deli

This is my 4th visit. Ive been to the Vernon Hills Location and the Bannockburn location. Both did not disappoint. The people working there are freindly. The sandwhich I got was a Turkey with mayo lettuce tomato onion and cheddar. It wont win any awards for beauty but the taste is amazing. The turkey was fresh and flavorful. The veggies and cheese also very fresh. What sets this sandwhich apart is the Italian roll and mayo. The bread was lightly toasted and so soft! The mayo is better than any mayo ive had. The size of rhe sandwhich at about $10 is worth it. Easily one of my top 5 sandwhich choices. Their soups look good too but havent tried them yet. The Bannockburn location is a smaller location so less choices than the fully stocked Vernon Hills location but both locations

Disappointing Reuben. They plopped the corned beef onto the bottom bread, then microwaved it, so it was already soaked through. And pretty small for the price. Try the Jewish deli down the road for a better sandwich.

I went here for lunch for the first time. I had high hopes based off some of the reviews I read. I agree the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and I received my order quickly. There was a bit of sticker shock. $12 for a tiny cup of chili and a sandwich is a bit much. My carryout order was packaged exceptionally well. You can see they wrapped the chili container in plastic wrap to protect from leakage. I appreciate that small step. I'm pretty sure I would have had a mess on my hands had the container not been wrapped. The taste of the food was just ok. The chili was way too salty. This place is not somewhere I would go again. I wanted to try something new on a cold winter day and I did.

Have had a few sandwiches and soups here and the food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly too! Today I ordered the tarragon chicken salad wrap and all I can say is “WOW!!!” Best chicken salad I’ve ever had … and one of the best sandwiches (wraps) I’ve ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and eat here - you’ll be glad you did.

Ordered grub hub and the food arrived cold and not prepared as ordered. Also, I assumed for $20 the sandwich would be a decent size. Small and underwhelming portions and food quality.
