Late December 2025 visit: Dropped by on a Sunday morning when we visited the Cal Ave Sunday Farmer's Market. A bit hard to locate as the shop front didn't scream 'bakery' at us and we walked by at least 3 times looking for the address. The young man helping us was very friendly and helpful in explaining the flavors to us! We picked up 2 focaccia breads in black takeout boxes and ate them after a hike the next afternoon. Tasty but oily. Didn't find any truffle flavor but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. Fun memory made better by the staff and his opinions on the savory focaccia bread. The shop had cake in jars and cookies available as well. I'd be interested in trying the sourdough bread loaves next time!
It was a hole in the wall for this location, I didn't even know i drove past it. I got 2 focaccias. So tasty. One of them is margarita and the tiny tomatoe popped in my mouth. So good! My other one is artichoke. Can't wait!
I genuinely don’t understand why this place is so highly rated. Everything was boxed up and so, the presentation was reminiscent of an upscale 7-Eleven and not a specialty pastry shop in Palo Alto. To be fair, I did go in on Christmas Eve. We got the Pesto Focaccia, some assorted muffins and the Jalapeño Cheddar Loaf. I am a home-baker and I dabble in sourdough and focaccia. The focaccia was EXTREMELY soggy, too cheesy and was really chewy. It didn’t have the airy and slightly crunchy texture that’s characteristic of focaccia. This could be because they had stored it in an airtight container, but we weren’t offered the option to get it warmed up. The muffins were alright if you just want “something slightly sweet”. There was no flavor - just something vaguely sweet. Texture was alright
I’ve been wanting to check out this bakery for quite some time. We went with my sister today and it did not disappoint. We bought the blueberry chocolate focaccia (out of this world sweet delight with coffee or tea), tiramisu jar cake (just the right amount of sweetness, I can’t stand when things are overly sweet) and also tried their sourdough with olives. All three were delicious (even though I don’t like black olives this bread was still good) and I will definitely be back for more (also want to try the Mountain View location). This is the best tasting focaccia bread I’ve ever had.
Best sourdough bread in the Bay Area, hands down! And we are French… so rather high standards on bread! Plus it is a family-owned business, not a chain. Don’t look any further for your daily dose of goodness!
