Georgetown Public Library

My daughter and I went for a Peter Rabbit Show put on my the Delaware Gardeners and it was so cute and educational! We decided to go downstairs and check out some books. We met the librarian, Kim. She is truly a gem! She put on a fun craft for the kids. She was so helpful and kind to my daughter! We went away just truly loving this library! Great place for the kiddos!

Public Library's are the best! Everyone is so nice & helpful. I have yet to explore everything that is offered, but love what I've been able to do so far!

I recommend this library with full appreciation for the friendly and competent staff who has remained committed to keeping a modern, safe and reliable place for students to study, and the general public to have access to. In the twenty plus years we have been coming here, we have never once been treated rudely or found any hint of unfair treatment to any visitors. The employees go over and beyond their job description and they have consistently greeted visitors and served them with common courtesy and respect. Not only have they secured a safe and respectful place to come study, use educational resources but have also managed to keep the premises professional, clean and organized. Good job to all!

I’m a retired special needs educator and reading specialist from Maryland. I have library cards to many libraries there. As soon ad I received my Delaware license, I had to get my library card and Georgetown was on my way home. They have ALWAYS been friendly, respectful, helpful, and willing to share a conversation as I check out my books. Yes, there are school children at certain times, ( after all, it is next to a school), but I have found them to be overall respectful. If someone is not abiding by the rules and becomes disruptive in any way, the librarian resolves the matter the same way a teacher would in her classroom. And the child knows when s/he has to leave! My family frequents many of the libraries in Sussex County and Georgetown is our favorite. It's great how they work with the nearby elementary school to offer events and programs. They have a lot of art classes, Lego building, robotics classes, etc...for children. They also have movie showings for small children and adults, though it is just on a tv and not a projector. The children's book section leaves a lot to be desired but if you put things on hold online beforehand you can go pickup pretty much anything you want.
