Friends of Mathews Memorial

I stopped here while I was in the neighborhood and was shocked to find this bookstore behind the library. Great prices (i found a brand new, best-selling hardback for 1$ and a few kids books for extremely cheap). Also, check out this GORGEOUS mural on the building. I highly recommend visiting this place if it's open when you're in the area! Super fun find!

Having never visited Mathews before, I was delighted to find a book sale going on and decided to investigate. The book sale was in a building located behind the Mathews Memorial Library, and is easy to reach by car, foot or wheelchair. Each Saturday, visitors are welcome to review hundreds of books artfully arranged for sale on stacks and tables, each for the incredible price of $1 per book. And these are GOOD books, not trashy paperbacks, curated by the library and volunteer staff, including recent publications, classic hardbacks, and historical books, all laid out for your perusal in a clean, welcoming environment. You will be warmly welcomed by the local volunteers running the sale, and might even be surprised, as I was, by a woman who brought in her 29-year-old cockatoo and proceeded
