Flying Cloud Bed And Breakfast

My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Flying Cloud. We aren't really B&B regulars (this was only our second B&B stay), but experiences like this one are converting us! We stayed in the San Francisco room, which is a spacious room with a private but detached bathroom. This wasn't a problem at all - we're glad we picked the room. The breakfasts were top quality with a different but delicious breakfast every day (we were there 3 nights). We did request breakfast early our last morning and were graciously accomodated. ||The Flying Cloud is within easy walking distance of several good restaurants in cozy Damariscotta. It's an easy drive to several nearby attractions (local hiking trails, Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid Lighthouse, fresh lobsters at New Harbor, etc.). Karen and Dave were extr

We were so happy to have found this b&b. We really needed a relaxing spot to regroup after a very hectic time. The Flying Cloud was perfect. It was walking distance to the town of Damariscotta with wonderful restaurants, shops and galleries. We went kayaking on the Damrariscotta River (also walking distance), ate lobster on the deck of a local restaurant and just unwound. Thank you Karen and Dave for making it so easy for us. We loved sitting on the deck watching the boats on the river. Breakfast on the screen porch with the gardens in bloom was just perfect. And the breakfast was outstanding. We just loved every minute at the b&b.

My husband & I spent 5 nights at the Flying Cloud. The breakfasts were great, room was lovely, fall foliage was gorgeous, etc. Karen & Dave are great innkeepers. Karen is an excellent cook and superb tour guide. She was great at making recommendations for day trips, places to eat while out, provided maps for guests, and so much more. This is such a convenient location for spending time on the Maine coast. The veiw from our room (San Francisco) was beautiful with all the fall colors and the boats in the harbor. The gas sotve was the perfect romantic place to end the day. We were close to all kinds of things to see and do and not spend the day in the car.We could walk to Damariscotta to dinner each night and were so pleased with the local restaurants. Dave and Karen were so helpful with planning the day suggesting things we didn't even know about. They even provided maps to use.And breakfast was out of this world. We had breakfast on the screen porch every morning and that added to the experience. I'd never had french toast like Karen's. We'll definitely plan another stay here!

In a first-time trip to Maine, I think we struck gold when we happened upon the Web site for Flying Cloud Bed and Breakfast and settled on the Newcastle-Damariscotta area of Maine's mid-coast region. Not wanting to be trapped in a touristy setting, we chose our location a bit at random, but this was a particularly lucky decision—Flying Cloud is in exactly the right spot to enjoy the comforts of a small village, the breathtaking Damariscotta River, and with quick and easily navigable access to a whole host of wonderful outdoorsy things to do. While I could go on about the cozy and comfortable rooms and the terrific old library on the second floor of this three-story house, what really made the stay wonderful was our hosts.
