I am a regular guest at the Williams River House. I find myself in the area frequently and have sampled all the local lodging options. This is the very best. The farm is a wedding venue and they also host guests on non-wedding weekends. The building is historic but all is up to date with elegant and cozy decor and modern bathrooms. Sleeping under the comforter is great, so quiet and peaceful with no cars passing ever. Depending on the season, you may be surrounded by a blanket of snow or a vista autumn leaves under starry skies. There is a mountain in the backyard! John is a retired teacher and gets up to make a creative and tasty breakfast. Kathy always extends hospitality. Some evenings they have a campfire and have invited me to join in. I booked a last minute overnight stay for Saturday, 8/6. John was very accommodating on the phone and booked us a room. Upon arrival, John and Kathy greeted us and showed us to our room, the Hawthorne room. It was lovely, comfortable, air controlled and spacious. It had everything that we could have needed and was handicapped accessible. I would recommend for anyone. Kathy gave us a tour of the house and John gave us a tour of the property in his golf cart, stopping along the way with great stories and history of the house. The house has many sitting rooms, fireplaces and nooks. All very inviting and comfortable. The gardens and flowers were lovely and the house had fresh flowers as well. I would also recommend this as a wedding venue. John and Kathy could not have been nicer. Breakfast

Just got home from a 3 night stay with my fiancé and we are already planning our next trip back. Everything about our experience was perfection - John and Kathy are the kindest people we’ve ever met and the farmhouse was stunningly beautiful. The views, the property, decor, literally every little detail, was *chefs kiss* I’m a yoga instructor and am looking into hosting retreats here next summer. It’s such a great escape from NYC. Also would be the most perfect wedding venue - we weren’t actually planning to have a formal wedding but our stay at the farm definitely opened our minds. Our favorite part was the farm to table breakfast John made with love every morning using ingredients straight from their garden. I never write reviews but this place is too good not to share. Cannot recomme

The Farm is a magical place full of warmth and comfort, I highly recommend. We went to ski with two older kids for a week in Jan and it was wonderful. The rooms are so comfortable, soft mattress and pillows, great decoration and fun to boot. My girls got the room that has its own enclosed curtains and they created their own little kingdom. John made the most delicious breakfast, and he shared his fresh made bread with his home made fruit preserves. We enjoyed hot coffee and herbal teas every morning. Everything is conveniently located, the kitchen is not only a good place to cook but also to congregate and meet others. We enjoyed many fireside chats with Kathy and John, they are such warm hosts. They are both scientists and they shared many stories with my girls. Kathy taught my girls to

Ok, so WOW!!! This place is just beautiful, even in winter. The snow covered fields, babbling river and the 1780's era home were like something from a postcard! The home itself is a perfect mix of old world charm and modern amenities - truly inviting and comforting. Plus, John and Kathy were very gracious hosts! From tours of the property to fresh pots of coffee each morning, they made us feel welcome. Being that it's winter, we hit the ski slopes during the day (there are many resort options a short drive away in addition to charming small towns) then return to the house for relaxed evenings with John, Kathy and the other guests. The kitchen and tavern were our favorite places to gather but if we wanted some privacy, we could retreat to our rooms (which were spotless and well appointed,
