Falafel 54

My sister and I were quite impressed with the lunch buffet. This clean, unpretentious restaurant served standard fare, but the food quality was unusually good. I like the variety (and quantity) of a buffet meal, but most buffets don't deliver the higher quality of freshly made-to-order dishes. This place manages to deliver both: several buffet items (falafel, pita, chicken kabab and gyro meat) were made to order in smaller quantities as we approached the buffet and additional servings were freshly prepared as and when those buffet items needed to be replenished. (The curry and other gravy dishes were prepared in larger quantities in advance, of course, allowing time for the flavors of the marinades to be absorbed.) Not worth the price for someone who tries this cuisine once in a while. Seems good options in terms of wings, rice, kabab, salads and all but overall taste was ok. You are on your own once you pay and no one will bother in asking anything as well.

Food is typically decent but portion sizes are getting small with no change in prices. I paid $4.00 for a side salad with my pita and THIS tiny styrofoam container was how it was served. It is barely taller than the small cup in which dressing is given. Will not be ordering from here again.

Small place in a friendly neighborhood! Clean and friendly staff. Most of the food is delicious, specially the spicy salad. Had the best gyro ever! The number of dishes are very limited. The desert items (there were 2) were very bad, full of cinnamons. The plates and spoons are very cheap. The cost is somewhat reasonable, but would be nice to have either a few more items or a little cheaper. Overall, not bad and might come back to try again!

I really like Mediterranean food, and in fact I already had a favorite place to eat. I had never been to Falafel 54, but it was close, I was starving and decided to go inside. From the outside the place is not so attractive, so I did not make many expectations. The person who takes the orders explained to me that there are 3 ways to order: à la carte, buffet or by weight (obviously they are different prices). I ordered the buffet so I could try a little bit of everything. Everything was delicious!!! There wasn't one thing I didn't like. Also, Gerardo (the person who attended us) was very nice and friendly. Without a doubt Falafel 54 is my favorite place for Mediterranean food.
