Emmitsburg Branch Library

We used to really enjoy coming to this library, especially on days when my son was off from school. Most of the staff are warm, welcoming, and great with kids, and they offer a lot of wonderful children’s programs. Unfortunately, one employee named Megan (a younger woman with curly hair and glasses) dampened our experience. I was sitting in the children’s area working on my laptop while my son played nearby. I had on Crocs, and while seated, I slipped my feet out and rested them on top of the shoes. Megan approached me with an unfriendly attitude and told me that shoes were required to be worn. I wasn’t walking barefoot—I was simply sitting quietly. Thankfully, another staff member came over and helped defuse the situation.Since then, we haven’t felt as comfortable returning to this librar

Welcoming little library with kind staff and clean bathrooms. Great stop for us with our infant while traveling on 15.

Such limited hours. Staff is also less welcoming than they used to be.
