Down East Magazine

Down East Magazine has sold us out.....sending customer service overseas. Horrible customer service. I have called a couple of times and both times the person couldn't understand most of what I was trying to say. I could only understand about every third word they said. I've been a loyal customer for a long time and in the past when I would call I would get someone local to Maine. I don't have time to sit on the phone for a half hour or more trying to get the person to understand what I'm saying and then worrying if my mission was accomplished or not. Will definitely be canceling when my subscription is done. Thanks but no thanks!!!

I got an offer in the mail with an excellent price for a one year subscription to this magazine. I called the phone number listed on the Downeast Magazine website, hoping to reach Rockport, Maine,but I reached a sales agent headquartered in the Philippines. I decided not to subscribe to a so- called Maine magazine that isn't actually situated in Maine.

A good magazine if a bit fluffy at time. And I hate to break it to Ron Corey, but there are in fact four species of sea turtle in the Gulf of Maine.

The downeast website ordering process is broken! I tried to order a single print issue of the Down East magazine from their website. It took me 30 minutes to get the website to accept my data. Among other formatting errors, the website forced me to contribute to their charity, even though the instructions said otherwise. I finally got my order accepted and an email confirmation was received soon after. But 24 hours later, I found 13 transactions from Down East on my credit card!! Apparently each time I tried to submit my order they charged my credit card, but told me in bold red letters that the submit failed. Later on in the day, they credited my account to offset the bad transactions. I called customer service but they were unable to do anything but ‘pass along my complaint’. Their web

Great experience having DownEast publishing create our Chamber of commerce magazine! They actively collaborated on the contents with us, handled all of the creative and photography, organized and published it, got it printed and allowed us to use their warehouse during distribution. Could not have been a better experience.
