Finally! Found great service paired with great food. It was on our favorite list after watching YouTube videos in our preparation before coming for our first visit. Everything and everyone was amazing. There’s a reason this place is booked. Get here if you can. The gumbo and fried chicken are second to none
Was truly disappointed. Onion rings great. Rest of our food was at best, warm when it arrived. Service started good, but no one checked with us after food came. Asked for mayo for my fries, which the waitress acknowledged after meals came, but we never saw her again until it was time for our check. This was late lunch and business was slowing, so...
A Historic Cultural Gem with Flavorful Fare Overall Impression Approaching this historic cultural hub, I felt a genuine sense of honor. The building’s legacy is immediately apparent, and I particularly loved the thoughtful detail of having the names of famous past visitors paved into the walkway out front—it sets a distinguished tone before you even step through the doors. Seeing the names of great civil rights leaders as Dorothy Height, Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers, James Baldwin , and so many more , was heartening. Service & Atmosphere The family hostesses were patient, welcoming, and gracious. They took time from the busyness of the night to visit and even take photos. The table service was a bit inconsistent. My server started the evening with a strong, enthusiastic introdu
Yesterday I was blessed with the ability to make a quick day trip to NOLA, and I decided to try Dooky Chase for lunch. Since it was a beautiful day, I opted to walk to Treme from City Park and arrived about 1:30pm to an absolutely packed restaurant. Being from out of town, I hadn’t realized that reservations are advisable here even for a weekday lunch. Fortunately, the very sweet lady at the hostess stand offered me the table nearest her stand. I happily accepted. As I sat, I saw that every wall in sight featured beautiful art in a variety of mixed media—even stained glass. I wanted so much to take photos of the art, but refrained because I didn’t want to risk capturing images of any of my fellow diners without their consent. Instead, I googled the art and read about how Leah Chase had b
Excellent, prompt service. Very professionally run. Clean, beautiful, artistic facilities. Reasonably priced. Food was very good, but not excellent. Gumbo and red beans and rice more remarkable than the sweet potatoes, which were good. Fried chicken I wouldn’t write home to mother about. Overall very happy with the experience. The peach cobbler is either the best I’ve ever had or very close to it.
