Devereaux Shields House

Ron and Eleanor did it again! Hosts like the Frys should be the standard in the Bed and Breakfast industry. We have stayed at DEVEREAUX-SHIELDS HOUSE five or six times now and each visit is better than the last. Rooms are well appointed, comfortable, and cozy. Bathrooms are spacious and spa-like. The heated floor is prefect to beat the winter chill. Breakfast is always delicious and enjoyable with the pleasant guests we encounter. The blueberry pancakes were second only to Eleanor’s Peach French Toast Cup. (Thanks for the recipe!) Until we meet again, our best to the entire staff.

Overall this is a very nice property with some lovely room options. The location to downtown was good, especially as there's ample parking in Natchez. The host and his wife were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast in the smaller property down the street was homemade and delicious, and I especially enjoyed the opportunity to visit with other guests while eating. The reason for the rating of 3 is that the Devereaux Shields House is actually 3 different houses, which I don't think is made clear in the reservation process (I booked on aaa.com). The lovely house pictured in the ads is the main house, where I thought I would be staying. My room, however, was in the much plainer, less well appointed house next door. The room was fine, with a comfy bed and a nicely appointed bathroom, but

We had a fabulous stay. We stayed in the Alice room. The beds were very comfortable. The sheets were so soft. Best night's sleep. The breakfast was the true show stopper. Fantastic baked French toast, egg bundle and sausage. Delicious!!! Coffee on the front porch was a true bonus. Can't wait to return.

We spent a delightful 33rd Wedding Anniversary last weekend with Ron and Eleanor and I couldn’t possibly give them enough accolades for the experience they provided. 5 stars is simply not enough! My husband surprised me with this amazing trip to Natchez. The owners, Ron and Eleanor, helped him through the entire process, even had massages set up for us on property. (Absolutely incredible and highly recommend!) The food Ms. Eleanor prepared was delicious and she was always attentive and accommodating. From champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to wonderful conversation with our new friends, this experience was incredible from start to finish. We can’t wait to return!

My husband and I decided to stay in Natchez to relax before the hectic New Year. The bed and breakfast was extremely accommodating. The bed felt like we were sleeping on a cloud and LOVED that they allowed our dog to stay in such a beautiful, historical room (The Elmo). We loved playing card games in the dining room at night and drinking coffee on the front porch in the mornings. The chef made AMAZING food… our personal favorite being the French Toast! Overall, it was everything we wanted our vacation to be. Thank you to everyone!
