Dempsey Ridge Golf Course

Dempsey Ridge is a great 9 hole course. The owner/pro Chet Davids is very personable. The elevation changes and water hazards make this a super fun course to play. Hole #'s 1, 2 5, 6, 7 are my favorites. I was planning on walking, but glad that Chet advised me to get a cart.

Most of the grass on the fairway, rough, tee boxes, etc. is dead or gone leaving dirt as the only playing field. The course is fairly difficult. Its not a pro level course but it's not forgiving to beginners or amateurs. If you don't hit your ball straight it's going into one of the two creeks running through the course or into the deep weeds surrounding nearly every fairway. There are a few sporadic trees throughout but they're easily navigated. The elevation changes quite frequently so it helps to be knowledgeable about club changes for height differences. I will most likely not golf here again but the staff here is amazing. The older fellow who works here is one of the most helpful and friendly workers I have ever met.

The course is as dead as the hospitality. Dead grass and dirt cover most of the course. They wouldn't sell me new golf balls because those are reserved for "league players" - so if you get stuck playing in this place at least come over prepared. The rough is so overgrown you won't find anything out of the fairway. Carts suck, they barely have the power to make it up the hill. My advice - just keep on driving.

What a fun golf experience! We travelled here from the Sun Valley area, where we live, to play this challenging little course. The greens are in excellent shape , and the course manager Chet could not have been more helpful and friendly. We recommend this course for everyone! We'll be back- John & Anna Dee Jensen

Worst golf experience of my life. No carts, backed up, unprofessional! Drive 20 minutes down the road to Soda Springs and golf at the Oregon Trails country club. Beautiful, green, and no membership required. Also, cheaper than this course in Lava. Save yourself the headache and skip this course!
