Davenport's Restaurant

If I could give 6 stars, I would. My boyfriend brought me to Davenport's for a romantic dinner, and we had the most lovely evening. The decor and ambience felt elegant and sophisticated, like true fine dining. The food was so delicious and the portions were decently sized. I ordered a prime rib-eye cooked to medium plus, and it was absolutely perfect! I could not stop talking about it! My boyfriend got the baby back ribs, and they tug right off the bone! We also got the crab cake for an appetizer and the peanutbutter pie for dessert, both of which were scrumptious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was most excellent. I had very high expectations, but honestly left a bit disappointed and won't be back. The service was terrible. I had read online that they did not charge a corkage fee, but apparently, it's now $30. For that fee, I would expect my wine to be decanter and poured for me. None of that happened. The ribeye was spot on, but the sautéed spinach was bland and tasteless. Again, for $50+ plate, I would expect to be wowed, not to have to season my own food. The best dish we had was the artichoke dip. Should have just had that and called it a day. Really disappointing.

Apparently the bar stools at Devenport’s are owner reserved. We stopped at Devenport’s in Encino for a drink at the bar before heading to a one Michelin star restaurant across the street. When we arrived, the bar was completely empty. We were the only guests there. While we were seated at the bar, the bartender told us we needed to move because the owner was arriving. At the same time, he abruptly placed two menus and two rollups directly in front of us, clearly marking the seats as “reserved.” There had been no signage or prior notice before we sat down. Shortly after, the owner showed up, touched one of us on the shoulder, and said, “That’s my seat. We came to this restaurant for our eighth anniversary and the owner immediately showed up with champagne and it was really good. I had prime rib, sea salt baked potato and asparagus. My partner had ribeye steak and garlic roasted potatoes. I had Chardonnay Rombauer wine that was spectacular. We started the dinner with an appetizer of Rockefeller oysters that were great. The service at this restaurant is really one of a kind we will definitely be back

Beautiful restaurant with stylish decor, delicious food, and excellent service. The signature lobster bites and New York steak were perfect, but the miso bass stole the show. It was so fresh and soft like butter.
