Crab Du Jour Cajun Seafood & Bar

I came in a little under an hour before closing, so I understand service might be winding down — but even so, I expected a better experience, especially at this price point. I ordered two drinks (a cosmopolitan and an upside-down pineapple cocktail), which came out to about $30. The cosmopolitan wasn’t made correctly and was served in a plastic cup, which really took away from the experience. At that price, I expect drinks to be made properly and served in the correct glassware. The biggest issue, though, was with the seafood boil. One of the mussels had a thick, grey, fuzzy layer on it. When I brought it to the manager's attention, I was told it was “algae and seaweed.” I couldn’t bring myself to finish the meal after that. Good food and portions for a good price, but you must be specific when you have kids or they will give you an adult meal. I had two smaller children with me both under 10, ordered both of them juice and kids meals but was given adult meals. When I told the waitress these were supposed to be kids meals with drinks included, I was told to be more specific because she didn’t know they were to be kids meals. It’s a nice place, other than that issue

Stopped in around 9 PM for dine-in, but decided to come back another time. I didn’t actually eat because the automatic 15% gratuity caught me off guard. I don’t mind tipping, but I prefer when policies like that are mentioned up front. I’ll return another day, just wanted to share my experience

First time at Crab du jour, we were in the mood for a "non typical" lunch. We were impressed from beginning to end. We ordered 1lb black mussels as an appetizer in the house sauce- du jour special, and mild. Came out in the infamous bag, which the lady who brought it out opened for us. They were amazing! That sauce... and large mussels! Let me say, lip smacking good. The two of us shared the bag, which in all honesty probably could be shared between four people. That filled me up; however, didn’t stop me from ordering the fried fish basket, and my other half ordered the fried oyster po' boy, we each chose the Creole fries. Calamari was super greasy and it was pooled at the bottom of the dish. The crab cakes were over cooked. Ive definitely been to better seafood places.
