It's kind of dingy, but that's honestly the ONLY negative thing I can think of (and it's really just because of the history of the buildings here). The food (especially the pizza) is amazing and their servers and bartenders are so attentive and nice! They don't serve martinis or old fashioneds because it's more of a craft beer place with basic drinks, but their sister bar next door has more high end items and we're looking forward to trying it soon!
I've lived in Athens for years, and I love pizza, so why have I never been here? Oh yea, it is because I assumed it would be populated by college kids and the pizza would be very overrated at best (like Avalanche) and bad at worst. The day I finally ventured here there weren't any customers (over Summer), and the pizza was surpringly good (easily surpassing my low expectations). The crust was thin and good, the cheese had flavor, and the sauce had a bit of tang. They also have decent fried pickles, which are something that most restaurants just get wrong from a variety of reasons. I don't like that they use styrofoam plates. Anyway, I plan to add this to my list of pizza places.
Tried the veggie pizza at Courtside Pizza and it didn’t disappoint. Fresh mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and black olives gave every bite a nice balance of flavor. The cheese was melty and not too greasy, and the sauce had a nice tang.
We went here because a friend went to college in Athens and said this was his favorite pizza while he was in school down there. I thought the pizza was alright. We also ordered side salads and waffle chips with Cajun seasoning. The salads were jam packed in those tiny bowls. The chips were crispy and flavorful. The men's restroom was unique as the walls are brick and metal. 3 different heights of urinals. The stall door was odd as it was high off the floor. I liked the sink. It is like one found in a kitchen. Deep metal with tons of room to wash your hands(the opposite of a typical small porcelain sink). The music being played was country. It was really loud too. I saw a couple groups sit down and then move to the courtyard outside where it was not as loud. Would I go back? Most definit
If you can make it before the throngs of kids crowd in like sardines… friendly bartenders, good drink selection, and omg why does the pizza taste so good!
