Stopped by for lunch, it's an older crowd but with age comes knowledge and experience. The variety is just right to avoid menu anxiety, everything is laid out in a logical manner starting with the main courses and onto the sides and desserts if you have room. Large portion sizes and low prices. The service was very quick and friendly and the dining area has ample seating.
Great pit stop with friendly people and good ol country food. Burgers had a great flavor and the smothered fried cabbage was the hit! Get the biscuit especially if you like sweet cornbread since their cornbread was not the sweet kind. BLT was full of bacon and the fish plate was nice (corn meal batter).
After reading the reviews we came here for breakfast around 12, because the internet said breakfast was served all day. It is not. They stop serving breakfast at 10:45 and start the lunch buffet. The country fried steak was awful, soft but flavorless and the white gravy tasted like warm pasty flour. The vegetables tasted canned and unseasoned. The fried green tomatoes were greasy. The macaroni and cheese is cheap boxed nastiness. The rolls had a funky taste. The restroom was nasty. After reading the reviews and seeing how busy this place was, I'm convinced people's taste buds are broken. I would not recommend this restaurant.
I hate to give a bad review as I remember this restaurant being really good in the past, but I wasted $10 as the sweet potatoes were too stringy to eat and the macaroni and cheese tasted of old milk and watery. It was worse than a box of Kraft. Hopefully, I just came on a bad day..
This is a really great place for "Home Cookin'". It's not fancy. It is cafeteria style which means you enter a line, pick up a tray & silverware & select your entree & 2 vegetables from offerings provided on the line. Younger people are unfamiliar w/Piccadilly or Morrison's & many do not care for cafeteria style. This is well-prepared & delicious. They feature different specials daily. They also serve different desserts and they are also awesome. They offer breakfast & lunch & close @ 3:00 p.m. The price for lunch is $7.99 i believe...most fair. I got liver & onions, creamed corn & fried okra & it was wonderful. I hope you have opportunity to visit here. It is very, very good.
