This is my first time visiting "Candy Apple Cafe" the service & food is amazing, definitely try the Turkey sandwich with gravy, I had to have the stuffing of course!! Told the waitress I will be a regular their 😁
Loved it! First time there and it was excellent. Cute little spot in Akron right by the grocery store. Food was made quickly and service was great! Will come here again.
We visit a couple times a month. It's pretty dated inside and standard fare. A local hot spot for a mature crowd. Just walk in and grab a table. Never had a wait. Bathrooms are tiny and in need of renovation (last we checked). There's a small private dining room that may seat up to 20 or so. Last time, there was a birthday party for an 80 y.o. with about 12 people of all ages.
We wanted to try somewhere different and support a local business. Candy Apple Cafe had some nice reviews and the parking lot was busy (generally a good sign) so we decided to check it out. Once inside we were told to seat ourselves. Our waitress was bubbly and super friendly. The menu had a lot to choose from. The prices were very reasonable. These were some strong positives! The negatives on our visit were mostly on the physical food prep. Where we sat we could see the plates being assembled. I saw a guy preparing without gloves (less hygienic then I would prefer) but more importantly also some him put chips on a customers plate and then take some off and start eating them. I have to admit I did not find that appealing. No hand washing after and then on to the next customers
Since Mary's Good and Plenty is now closed in Akron, this place seems to be the next best option for a hearty breakfast on a Saturday morning. The hashbrowns were excellent. I chose the variety with peppers and onions mixed with the potatoes. With some tables blocked off due to social distancing, they were filled nearly to their reduced capacity. Service at breakfast time was quite slow. We arrived before 9:00, were offered coffee about 9:10, and were served at 9:40 - fine if you are having a relaxing morning with friends, but perhaps a problem if you are on a schedule. In our case the food was worth the delay.
