Caesar Rodney Dining Hall

Visited my daughter at school… And had lunch with her in the dining hall to get the experience of what she goes through each day Staff was extremely friendly and it was very clean

Not a student. Was told food is kicked up a notch when parents visit. On one occasion it smelled like the grease traps were backing up or just been cleaned. That being said I enjoyed everything I ate every time. The staff engaged me. The table wear was clean. I liked the small cups to not promote waste. There is a great variety of food.

For the prices that they charge, especially dinner, the “meal” is never nearly adequate. Thank god you can see the menu as far advance as a week because people were just getting surprised with garbage prior. You can tell this school looks for every corner to profit the most off this racket. There are very view days out of the semester, maybe 2-3 max, in which what they are serving is adequate to what you could be paying anywhere else. Staff members overall are not as bad as people say. Sure many have attitude and yes a significant amount appear to be ex cons. However, you can see the effort in which a large majority try to provide in terms of adequate service for students based upon what they’re working with. I got food poisoning from the moldy bread this year. As students, we have very limited options for dining, and more often than not I have had to spend money on food elsewhere because of how inedible and gross the food is. Caesar Rodney staff make me extremely uncomfortable/not welcome/stared at and they are often rude and apathetic. As someone who tries to eat nutritional food and abstain from sugar, there are few edible options. The salad bar sits out all day and the produce is dry. The only decently made foods are the desserts and ice cream, of which I don’t eat. The tables are sticky and always littered with food. I have found hair in my food before. I have lost my appetite seeing dirty dishes and cups and have left dozens of times without eating something or only taking an apple/banana

Staff is incredibly unkind and unwelcoming. A girl was screamed at last week for walking out with a cup of water. This is the only dining hall on campus where you can't take food out unless you specifically ask for a bag from the register. This practice is incredibly wasteful and encourages staff to berate, yell at, and shame students for making full use of their unlimited swipes. Worse yet, when a student is caught taking food out without a bag, they're forced to throw it away; I don't think I need to explain how wasteful this is. I don't understand why taking a singular banana out of the dining hall is such a sin, especially when students pay the extra money to be able to access CR unlimitedly.
