Blue Shutters Beach

Beautiful place to go to in the office season. Walking on the beach is great at low tide. Love to ride my mountain bike on the wet sand. Easy to park near the beach. Porta potty available.

This is a town beach where the population is small, but the beach area is quite large. You either need a town pass or pay a parking fee to get in. Clean restrooms and trash receptacles are located in the parking area. It's a very short walk to the beach from the parking lot. There were 4 lifeguards on duty. The surf and wind were a bit strong, and there was a good deal of red seaweed at the shore when I visited. Beautiful views. On a clear day, views of Block Island are visible. Plenty of excellent restaurants close by.

I've been coming here for a few years and decided to invest in a season pass this year because of the beautiful waters. Unfortunately, no matter what time I arrived on weekdays or on weekends at 10AM, 12PM, or 2PM-the parking lot consistently displayed a "Full" sign, and the staff would not allow entry. After finally speaking with an on-site manager, we were let in-only to find at least 15-20 open parking spots, and space on the beach. Turning people around when space is clearly available is unfair and misleading.

Super clean, beautiful Aqua Marine colored water, awesome waves but not suitable for surfing to shorebreak is extremely powerful and Powerful serve, but really fun waves and friendly staff, very very very clean bathroom, and even helpful lifeguards who are very well acquainted with currents and what to look out for. I love this beach and I go there a lot. Great for photography.

This is by far my favorite beach in Rhode Island. It such a sweet spot near Dave's Coffee and has the nicest, cleanest, beach. The only downside is you do have to get here extra early for parking because by 9:30 (especially during high season) the parking lot gets full. I highly recommend carpooling and coming in a small vehicle. Makes your chances of finding working even better. There aren't any nearby places for food or drink so pack a cooler and bring it over with some snacks. No dogs allowed during peak season. Must pay for parking. They take credit cards. Lifeguards are available in certain parts. Very quiet beach and a perfect spot to come relax in the summer.
