Bedford Central Library

Love the library, the staff is super kind and it’s a lovely library! Cozy and well stocked with books that delight AND a used book store open in special hours just for Bedfordians and for folks that are looking for a good 1$ read. Be a member of our library, read to your hearts content, such a wonderful place to be!

My family loves the library. We go at least once a week. There’s a large children’s selection of books. They offer a lot of free activities from toddler reading times, teen game nights, and movie nights. Lots of books to purchase from them in their friends of the library store and throughout the library. They rotate popular books towards the front and post about new books on their site and social media. They offer meeting rooms to rent upstairs. They have quilt shows and art shows upstairs too. There’s an elevator if you need it. They also offer a little snack area with a few tables and a mix of snacks and drinks for purchase. They only take cash so be aware of that. The Wharton Garden is right next to them so it’s perfect if you have children that like to read and play outside.

This library is completely missing the entire point of what a library is supposed to be. It is not quiet, not even close. The librarians don’t bother to address customers who are talking loudly, yelling, or being disruptive. Even worse, the staff themselves are some of the loudest people in the building, carrying on conversations at full volume with zero awareness or concern for anyone trying to read or study. It’s honestly ridiculous that a place meant for quiet has become noisier than a coffee shop. This location needs serious management attention because the current environment is unacceptable.

I love the Library! The staff at Bedford is helpful and lovely!!! When I retire, I plan to move in. And the books for sale are at great prices too!
