Customer Reviews
It was my first time trying Baru, and I was not disappointed. The food and service were amazing! My family and I shared small tapas as a family of five. Yes, they’re small, but it was plenty. We had the empanadas, a good vegetarian option, and they were excellent. We also had the chuzos, agillo, and whole fish, as well as chorizo sausage. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The food came out quickly. Our server was so sweet and great at suggesting what to order. The drinks were good as well. I recommend getting the maracuyá.
Looooveed the food, the ambiance and the staff. Very friendly waitress, fabulous environment (indoor and outdoor seating available). The food was amazing. Every single dish was delicious. Veg and pescatarean options. Will be back!
Stumbled upon this place during happy hour. We got one of each of the HH apps and enjoyed them with a delicious glass of Vinho Verde. Sat outside. Had excellent, friendly service and absolutely loved each dish. Especially enjoyed the yucca croquette with ropa vieja. Would order it all again!
We shared happy hour small plates - arepa, Cubano sandwich, croquetta- all very good and beautifully presented. Margarita and granacha smoothed the conversation. The mushroom "regular" tapas also hit home. Hostess Marilyn took great care of us and her colleagues stepped up, too. I look forward to a return to Baru for seafood and morcilla if I can't make it to Cartagena.
Nice restaurant on Magazine St. A little pricey for the amount of food you get. Mais Arepas near St. Charles will give you a much bigger portion for the price or less. Our dessert and coffee took forever to get to us, over 20 minutes after our order was taken. Wasn't the servers fault, blame is fully on the kitchen. Food was good but nothing outstanding. The drinks were very good. I was hoping for a better experience, it was adequate.
