Bali Express

OMG! This place is a must go to if you have a cultured palate. We were looking to try something different and came across this. Worth the drive to Carson City and they also have a food truck that comes to Reno. When you walk in, it looks like a 50's diner setting with booths and additional seating in the back. We were greeted by the friendly owner who was also the chef. The chef's husband also came out and started serving. The dynamic duo were so friendly and conversant they made you feel like friends. For starters we ordered the tempura shrimp as well as the chicken and veggie pot stickers. For our entrees we ordered the chicken with lemon grass, shrimp with lemon grass and the pompano fish. They were served on wooden plates covered with banana leaves, totally eye-pleasing and refreshin

Met the owners Barry and the star of the show his wife last night for dinner. Sweet, very friendly people. Never had Balinese food before in my travels, but boy are you in for a delicious surprise. Everything came out very quick, looked exactly like the menu and tasted amazing. I like spicy food and she hooks it up with the chili sauce on the side of asked. Doesn't overpower anything, blends well and is very flavorful. They also have a food truck so be on the lookout for them at events. Included pictures of the food for reference.

This place need more recognition. The food was AMAZING. I’m Indonesian and it is hard to find an authentic indonesian food around here. Some other places that i have been to, their food are more americanized but Bali express did an amazing job of keeping their food authentic. Loved the owners too, Koming and Berry are very friendly and welcoming to their guests. I will definitely recommend this place to relatives.

Today at Bali Express in Carson City Barry greeted us and proudly promoted the food here. We ordered Sate Ayam with Mie Goreng Koming and Mie Goreng with Rendang, but don't worry if you don't know what that is...their interactive digital menu screen shows you beautiful pictures of every dish and what they are with customizable flavors and proteins and Barry is there to explain every dish to you! Your order is served in a woven tray on a flat round of wood with a same size circle cut from a banana leaf. It was beautiful. The food is served hot. Not warm sitting under a heating lamp while you wait for your friends meal- no. As soon as it's prepared by Koming, it's served. The spice level is good. It is SO SUPER FLAVORFUL! Super friendly owners, amazing food! $15 for such a big portion as well! This is the most flavorful food to me in all of Nevada. I have been coming to Bali Express every week since I tried out their food from their food truck 6 months ago. Barry and his wife are always friendly and polite! I went to Bali few years ago and I had been looking for authentic Indonesian food ever since and finally found it !! This is as authentic as it gets! I would say it’s the best Indonesian/Balinese food I have ever tried my whole life and that’s why I kept coming back for more !!!!
