Avonlea, Jewel of the Sea

We went to Block Island and Avonlea for our anniversary. We stayed in the Amethyst room. The private deck and large jet tub are wonderful. They made very good use of the space. The common areas are wonderful including the large porch overlooking the beach with comfortable rocking chairs. Sabrina was wonderful. She reached out before our arrival, greeted us and was available throughout our stay. The rest of the staff were great and welcoming as well. Breakfast was great. We expected a continental breakfast but it was so much more. We would highly recommend a stay at the Avonlea! It was great being there in the fall with less crowds.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Avonlea for an overnight visit recently. Sabrina, the Innkeeper is exceptional along with her staff. The attention to detail from the delicious homemade breakfast, to the Happy Hour wine and tapas style offerings are unmatched. Being the only spot on the Block with its own beach made our stay even more enjoyable. Heaven! Our room was cozy, and very clean. The sound of the waves at night so relaxing and peaceful. Water street downtown is just a short walk away. This boutique jewel of the Block is a rare find. Can’t wait to return. Very highly recommended. Thank you again, Sabrina for your kindness, thoughtfulness and exceptional hospitality. You are the “jewel” of the Avonlea!

Absolutely amazing experience with our stay at Avonlea. We went for a Sunday wedding and had to stay Saturday through Wednesday due to the storm. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. Hospitality was 5 stars. Sabrina is magnificent at welcoming her guests and being extremely attentive and responsive in real time, so personable. Suku cooked us fresh breakfast every morning - fresh eggs, home fries, and fruit. There’s coffee and tea available whenever your heart desires. When there’s a hurricane outside, feeling so comfortable at the hotel makes the entire vibe brighter. Rooms are clean, bed is very comfortable, perfect location. This is an awesome place to vacation at! We have stayed here multiple times and keep coming back because we love it here. The staff are excellent at doing anything for you and the accomodations are top notch. Very clean, wonderful food & snacks, We talked with other guests and all raved about the Avonlea. Sabrina has such a lovely spirit about her as she oversees the operations, and since we were delayed a day along with 3 other couples in getting there, communication was precise and they were ready for us all when we arrived. We enjoy staying here so much that we have given gift certificates to others to encourage them to try it out and have always been graciously thanked for the beautiful time spent here.

The location was spectacularly perfect. Right on the beach with the most perfect sunrise. The room provided beautiful views and the sound of the ocean made it relaxing and pleasant. The atmosphere was charming and I can not brag enough on Sabrina! She makes Avonlea wonderfully beautiful with her grace and hospitality. The breakfast and happy hour could not have been more perfect. This was our first time and we will be back. We are hopeful Sabrina will be there!!!
